Contractual Holidays? How to Deal with the Seasonal ‘Unavailability’ of Counterparties
On 21 August 2025, the International Law Committee of the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) held its regular virtual coffee meeting - this time on the topic: “Contractual Holidays? How to Deal with the Seasonal ‘Unavailability’ of Counterparties.”
In a friendly online atmosphere, participants - lawyers, business representatives, and international law experts - discussed the risks associated with seasonal communication delays and shared practical advice on how to ensure the continuity of business processes during periods of mass vacations or “downtime” on the part of foreign partners.
The discussion featured contributions from:
- Olga Kuchmiienko, Chair of the UBA International Law Committee, Attorney-at-Law, Ph.D. in Law;
- Viktoria Ivasechko, Member of the Committee’s Board, Counsel at Redcliffe Partners.
Among the key issues addressed were:
- how to anticipate seasonal breaks in contracts;
- approaches that enable efficient work when parties have limited availability;
- how to properly record agreements in correspondence and safeguard the company’s interests
The meeting once again confirmed that the informal “coffee with colleagues” format fosters open dialogue and the exchange of real-life cases and solutions.
We extend our thanks to everyone who joined! Stay tuned for further updates from the Committee and take part in upcoming meetings – many relevant topics and engaging discussions are ahead.
