The Law Society of Scotland supports the call on the United Nations to consider establishing a special international tribunal for the Russian officials responsible for the conflict

The Law Society of Scotland expresses its sincere condolences to lawyers and all Ukrainians in the face of the ongoing illegal invasion of Russia and supports the call on the United Nations to consider establishing a special international tribunal for the Russian officials responsible for the conflict.

«This would be a welcome additional step following the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court’s announcement that they intend to open an investigation into events in Ukraine «as rapidly as possible» in respect to crimes against humanity and war crimes committed within Ukraine» – the letter to the UBA says.

In addition, the Council of the Scottish Law Society recognizes the importance of complying with the sanctions imposed on Russia and Belarus by the United Kingdom Government and is ready to review the requirements for Ukrainian lawyers wishing to requalify in Scotland.
