UBA and IBA Call on Regional Military Administrations to Document Russian Crimes Against Ukraine Through Eyewitness To Atrocities

The Ukrainian Bar Association, together with the International Bar Association, called on regional military administrations to use the eyeWitness to Atrocities program to collect and document crimes committed in Ukraine and to communicate information about this program to the public and civil servants.

This program was used during the trial of historical cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the investigation of human rights violations in the Middle East and to gather evidence of crimes in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Among its advantages: automatic collection of metadata that confirms the authenticity of photo/video/audio recordings; downloaded data is protected from further editing and is automatically transmitted and stored on the Cloud with enhanced security mode. In addition, information from eyeWitness to Atrocities will be automatically forwarded to the International Criminal Court, which is already investigating the events in Ukraine.

The use of eyeWitness to Atrocities will help Ukraine to record evidence of crimes so that such evidence can be easily used without further verifications in court proceedings at the national and international levels.
