The UBA Mediation Committee, together with the Association of Family Mediators of Ukraine and the Free Legal Aid System, invites you to take part in an online event on the topic “Agreements in mediation: what lawyers need to know” which will take place on September 30, 2025.

Aim of the event:

To deepen lawyers’ understanding of the different types of agreements related to mediation, in particular:

• the mediation agreement as a basis for initiating its process;
• the settlement agreement resulting from mediation as the outcome of the procedure;
• the mediated agreement as a way of the parties’ resolution of the conflict;
• key aspects of the content, structure, conclusion, and enforcement of such documents in both practical and legal dimensions.

The event will also promote the development of a common approach to drafting, interpreting, and providing legal support for such agreements.

Why this is important for lawyers:

• You will learn about the types of agreements in mediation procedures and their legal effect.
• You will understand how to help clients minimize the risks of invalidity or ineffectiveness of concluded agreements.
• You will find out who drafts agreements during the mediation process, and what temporary, interim, and final arrangements in mediation mean.
• You will be able to effectively assist your client in concluding agreements - both in pre-trial settlements and during court proceedings.
• You will receive examples and practical case examples.
