The IBA's 50:50 by 2030 project aims to uncover the root causes of the lack of gender parity at the most senior levels of the legal profession. This webinar will serve as the launch for Phase 2 of the project. The main focus will be a global survey seeking views from women in the legal profession about a variety of topics, including:
- their experience as lawyers in the profession;
- initiatives available and their impact;
- barriers to practice;
- reasons for staying or leaving the profession;
- areas or sectors of practice;
- career satisfaction;
- impact of menopause; and
- the impact of family or other caring responsibilities on their careers.
The webinar will also launch the 'Inspirational Legal Women' podcast series, linked to the LPRU’s Sustainable Law in Action series and featuring conversations with IBA members. This limited series is designed to inspire listeners and share the diverse experiences of IBA women lawyers from around the world.
In collaboration with the International Bar Association (IBA), the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) has embarked on the ambitious 50:50 by 2030 project. In 2023, a report titled "50:50 by 2030 – Gender Equality in the Legal Profession" was published, prepared with the participation of the UBA. The report highlighted the key challenges faced by women lawyers in Ukraine and provided recommendations for improvement. You can read the report here.
Registration: The webinar is free, but spaces are limited. Certificates of attendance will be provided to all delegates who have registered in advance and attended the live broadcast for a minimum of 30 minutes.
