The right of every child in Ukraine to grow up in a family environment: challenges and proposals

The UBA Committee on Civil, Family, and Inheritance Law, together with the Ukrainian Child Rights Network, invites you to participate in an event entitled “The Right of Every Child in Ukraine to Grow Up in a Family Environment: Challenges and Proposals”, which will take place on December 12, 2025, in Kyiv. Online participation via Zoom will also be available.
Topics for discussion:
· Review of the Strategy for Ensuring Every Child’s Right to Grow Up in a Family Environment in Ukraine for 2024–2028;
· Practical implementation of protection: real-life realities of working with families versus current legislation and judicial practice;
· Legislative initiatives concerning the right of the child to grow up in a family environment;
· Pilot project on the specialization of judges in family and children’s cases, with a focus on ensuring the child’s right to grow up in a family environment;
· Challenges in considering cases related to the child’s right to a family and the relevance of introducing the specialization of judges in family and children’s cases in Ukraine;
· From regulation to real life: how legal decisions affect the lives of orphaned children;
· The role of lawyers in interdisciplinary teams for the protection of children’s rights: from needs assessment to legal support;
· Returning children to their biological families: conditions, risks, successful practices, and the role of court decisions in ensuring the best interests of the child.
